Agenda | March 2018
✽ MARCH 2018 Hello Dreamers! We hope everyone's enjoying the game so far! Now that we've gotten a full month of play under our collective belts, we're going to be starting in with exploration missions beginning this month. As always, we appreciate everyone's candor and patience as we figure out the best way to make these fun for everyone. Additionally, we're introducing a new agenda section, called Job Openings. These will change month by month, but are work opportunities that characters can opt into where they'll typically be paired or put into small groups to handle. It's another option for CR opportunities (and to make some IC connections!), but these are by no means mandatory. • CITY DEVELOPMENTS • The city has declared this year's Tine's Commemoration festival a rousing success, and will be remarking for weeks how nice it was that so many of the new arrivals seemed enthusiastic about embracing the tradition. This optimism carries into the month of March, which will translate into economic perks such as lowered prices on all sorts of item types, notably on clothes and other textiles. If you wanted to expand your wardrobe, now's the time! March also begins the first of two annual rainy seasons on the archipelago, particularly later in the month that will continue into April. Correspondingly, there is an uptick in illnesses around the city, particularly among the Bresilykian, Kin'nal, and Sinayg populations. Many will likely notice friends, coworkers, and patrons taking time off for having "cave bones", so named because stiffness and difficulty moving affects all of the aforementioned races, in addition to generally gross flu-like symptoms. Dreamfolk don't seem to be immune to the effects either (although some especially tricky few may claim to have contracted it, particularly since paid sick time isn't an unheard of thing in Aifaran). • JOB OPENINGS • Aifaran's economy has strong pillars in both monetary and barter systems for work, and as such there are always a wealth of opportunities for temporary work both inside the city and in other locations around the archipelago. While these positions are not strictly geared toward Dreamfolk, and anyone can take them up regardless of whether they already have steady employment elsewhere or not, new Dreamfolk in particular find them helpful to help get their feet under them. Some of this month's temporary work positions are: BEACHFRONT CLEANUP - It's not a pleasant task, but it does pay volunteers pretty well: following a massive storm outside the archipelago barrier, several dozen Giant Jellyfish corpses have washed up on the shoreline, and they need to be cleaned and disposed of before they start to decompose. It's dirty, smelly, and slimey work... but there's a promise of two weeks worth of rhinn for one day's work if you stick it out. When you arrive on sight, you'll be assigned to a team and given some shovels and a wheelbarrow... INVENTORY DRUDGE - Anyone who's worked retail in their own world probably knows this pain, but inventory in Ioduese shops still needs to be done, and several shopkeepers are offering a fair day's wage and a selection of (only slightly expired) goods for volunteers to help with the counting and sorting of wares. It's tedious and probably boring, but at least it's inside while the weather's getting progressively wetter. If your stipend from the Dreaming Bridge has run out already, maybe it's not a bad idea? FREE YOUR INNER PICASSO - Or maybe not. With the rainy season approaching, people are hiring workers to apply their annual sealant coats on the exteriors of their homes and businesses. If you don't mind ending the day smelling like you've just bathed in lemon cleaner, the pay is respectable, especially if you don't mind heights and are thorough with a brush. • UPCOMING EVENTS • ✽ A STUDY IN NOSTALGIA { March 4-8 } Residual curiosity about the newest batch of Dreamfolk has led researchers at the Aisling Tower to propose some gentle urging to be allowed to run a few tests on the recent arrivals - for fair compensation, of course! If anything, the Aisling researchers might be a little over-eager to agree to whatever they're asked for as payment, no matter how outlandish it seems. What's a bag of rhinn or food or a month's supply of liquor worth in comparison to furthering their knowledge of the Dreaming, after all? Except things going to plan hardly ever Note: This event will have a mod-posted log, along with specific details as to how this event will run, available for threading. ✽ SEARCH AND SEIZURE { March 15 } The Sentry has been cracking down hard on smugglers this month, and several sting operations have resulted in over a dozen Chihuelans imprisoned and awaiting trial, and the seizure of their goods being transported into the city, bound for the Kel'ghau black market. After weeding out any contraband materials (heavy weapons, illicit substances, and anything that seemed like it might go 'boom' if messed with), the remaining items are being put up for public auction to be held mid-month. Keen-eyed Dreamfolk might spot objects from their own worlds that they recognize, especially since the objects will be listed in a network catalogue for perusal beginning 48 hours prior to the day of the auction. However, it won't be difficult to notice that there's always a strong market for Dreamfolk possessions in Aifaran among its native races as well - sometimes for honest curiosity and novelty, and sometimes with the intent to sell them back to their potential owners at an astronomical markup. Expect the bidding to be fierce! Note: This event will not have a mod-posted log; please see this OOC comment for details. ✽ EXPLORE MISSION: Moqsing TQ-727 { March 24-30 } The Naval Division reports on March 20 that they've discovered a new Shunt: a hulking metal behemoth floating in the ocean. Observations made from their safe distance do not report any signs of life, only the designation visible at various intervals along its outer shell: Moqsing TQ-727. Exploratory teams are quickly assembled for reconnaissance and probable collection of resources. Note: This mission event will have a mod-posted log available for threading. • AFFINITY RANKS • Check out your character's AFFINITY RANK for the various areas of repute within the city! This month's Affinity Activities can be found LOCATED HERE. Remember: Affinity activities are NOT required to happen to your character, they're only there as options to give you some interesting things to have happen if you choose. You're not obliged to have your character experience ALL or even ANY of the scenarios they have rank for if you're not interested in them. • OOC INFO & MOD NOTES • Housing Now that characters are starting to get established, they may be wanting to move out of the Dreaming Bridge and into their own places, especially if they've already found employment. If this is the case, please be sure to comment so your character can be moved from the rooming lists and to make way for new arrivals to be placed! (Of course, characters are welcome to stay at the Dreaming Bridge - there's no maximum limit as to how long they can roomed there. This is only relevant for characters who are choosing to move to individual housing by choice.) |

Also he does not want to participate in anything nostalgia related, but I'm making him anyway. Note that he does have some really unpleasant war memories, but he does also have some nicer memories, including an event he doesn't recall where he fell in love with someone because of monster of the week shenanigans, and he was so in love he was basically high.
